    Excellent – You’ve seen #DIYMKT chat and now you’re wondering how to get started!  That’s awesome.  It’s going to be easy, because I’m going to give you a hand-holding step by step.

    What’s the #DIYMKT Chat About?

    This chat is all about Doing Your Own Marketing.  It’s an opportunity for all of us who are responsible for getting and keeping fun, awesome and profitable customers to connect and share ideas, processes, tools and resources.

    You can expect to get low-cost/high-impact ideas and resources that will help you make your work and life more fun and productive.

    BEFORE You can Start

    1. You’ll need a Twitter account. If you don’t have one, just click over to www.Twtitter.com and click on the “Join the Conversation” button.  Register and you’re ready to rock and roll.
    2. FOLLOW “DIYMarketers”. Your next step is to click over to www.twitter.com/DIYMarketers and click on the follow button.  If you’re already following DIYMarketers, then you are all set.

    How to Join the Conversation at #DIYMKT chat

    1. Using TweetChat http://tweetchat.com Just login using your Twitter username and password, then enter the room “#DIYMKT” .  Tweetchat will automatically display all Twitter messages that folks tag with the #DIYMKT tag, so you will only see that conversation.  TweetChat also automatically tags any message that you post with the #DIYMKT tag, so anyone following this conversation will see your message (without you having to tag it yourself).
    2. Using TweetGrid: http://www.tweetgrid.com/.  This is a great choice if you want to look at multiple conversations.  Just pick how many columns you’d like to use, then insert the search term i.e. #DIYMKT and the TweetGrid will fill in the rest.  You can also follow replies to your account by simply entering @yourtwitterid into another column to see people’s responding to you.

    I’m not sure that I would recommend using TweetDeck or Twhirl because they use up lots of APIs and you could lose functionality in the middle of the chat.

    Some Ground Rules and the Process

    1. Schedule: Monday mornings 11:30am – 12:20pm Eastern Time
    2. Introductions: We’ll start with a quick intro of who you are and what you or your company does.
    3. Submit Questions Early: You can submit your questions via Twitter by Direct Message to DIYMarketers or ivana@DIYMarketers.com
    4. Participate: All you have to do is enter your message either into TweetChat or TweetGrid (they will autimatically use the #DIYMKT hashtag.  Do I have to tell you to be nice and respectful to others?  I didn’t think so.  Offer your ideas, experiences and suggestions.
