As a consumer and a person who works in retail, the biggest thing that my managers are cutting down on is labor and paper waste. Walmart is surviving because they pay their employees next to nothing while other companies are more generous. One of my companies is seriously cracking down on paper waste, labor, and other expenses but I wonder if it is making any difference. Their savvy tactics are making the customers more upset and I find that more people are complaining more than ever. I try to explain why they are cutting down on paper waste, and then they ask for an extra cup and take 10 napkins when they don't even need it. People will only help themselves save money but have no interest in helping others. Even the rich want something for nothing and people are looking for anything extra they can get their hands on.
